Our Mission
CASA understands the vital need for the child to have a voice in the courtroom—and that each child is an individual with unique needs. By speaking for the child, CASA ensures that the wishes and needs of the child are not overlooked by the many competing interests at play. The mission of CASA of the Northern Bluegrass Region is to provide court-appointed volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children so that they can thrive in safe, permanent homes.
How to Get Involved
Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA volunteers, come from a variety of life and professional backgrounds and educations, and are trained in-depth on their role in children's lives and in the court system, issues facing our families and much more. All volunteers must be at least 21 years old, and must be able to pass criminal and child abuse network background checks. All our trained CASA volunteers meet with staff to determine which of our 9 counties they wish to serve in (Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Harrison, Kenton, Owen, Pendleton counties), and then are assigned to a volunteer supervisor, who will walk through their cases with them, once assigned. We have children waiting for a CASA volunteer to give them a voice in the court system and hope and healing in their lives so they can not just survive but THRIVE in safe and permanent homes.
